We’ll keep this brief and get it posted asap because pieces from our latest load have been flying out faster than we can photograph them. Lots of great additions for home, cottage and garden, including:

Check out today’s Globe & Mail article where Sarah Richardson talks salvage – specifically, how she used salvaged architectural details (including our galvanized lights and wrought-iron sign bracket) to give her Creemore kitchen a vintage farmhouse look. She stresses the fact that not only is shopping vintage usually easier on the budget than going new or reproduction, but also that reproduction pieces are rarely authentic-looking enough to be convincing. Vintage pieces have more character and are more unique, so no one will have the exact same look as you. By the same account, since the lights and bracket that Sarah used are vintage, we don’t have any more in our store. However, we do have all sorts of other cottage-friendly pieces for your summer reno so come in and get inspired!

First of all, a reminder: we will be closed on Good Friday, but open on Saturday 10-6. Closed Sunday & Monday as usual. (Normal hours: Tues-Sat 10-6).

New this week…

/a pair of these heavy cast iron lion-head planters, about 15″ square/

/We love stumbling upon utility drawers like these - handmade and entirely quirky – from basement workshops and “ye olde” hardware stores. We have some of them in our own workshop, and even use the old washers and nuts that came in them! If you’re ambitious, these look amazing built into custom cabinets, but for the 10-minute decorator they’re also handy just the way they are./

/Newel posts almost never come in, but this week we’ve had 8 new arrivals!/

/This little metal wash stand has a flip-up top with a swiveling soap dish. Small enough for a powder room, it would look great all plumbed up and fitted with a little basin./

/Update…this door was featured a couple of weeks ago. It’s back from being stripped and is looking fantastic. Two available./

/Just an unusual piece…this engraved plated pitcher is actually a thermos – it is double walled to keep your hot and cold beverages just that./

/Two mantles from the same home…one with an urn motif, the other with fruit basket and garland detail./

/cast iron fireplace insert and newly repaired stained glass window/

/cast iron foot bath – could be re-purposed as a super deep vessel sink in a laundry room/bathroom/etc./

/vintage skids and steer head/

/Five little green bucket stands…a place to rest your buckets when you came in from outside. No buckets? These would also make very sweet play furniture pieces for small children./

/there are two of these victorian door which open side-by-side and are sold as a pair, also a stainless drinking fountain/

/arched pine doorway (shown here against a large Egyptian door) – there is no door for this piece, but it would look incredible mirrored in a large space/

Welcome back Sarah’s House!

The new season of Sarah’s House has just begun, and this time she’s bought a gorgeous farmhouse up in beautiful Creemore. We’re excited to see our hardware, lights, registers and more put to good use as Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe give the house a top-to-bottom makeover. When it’s all over we’ll do a roundup of the pieces used on the show so you know what’s still available – we still get calls for items used in her cottage reno that aired last year! New episodes of Sarah’s House air on Tuesdays and repeat throughout the week, but if you miss any episodes you can watch them online right here on HGTV Canada.
